The best part about being a born again Christian for me is the personal relationship with Christ. He's already seen you in the morning, no make-up, hair a mess because your scarf came off during the night. But also the morning of your heart, hate, pride, selfishness, and the big struggle for me, jealousy. Yes, I admit it, I've struggled with the prostitute of jealousy in my day. She rears those green eyes and it just feels good, but just like those eyes, the grass always seems greener on the other side. Yes, Christ saw this condition of my heart and instead of braking up with me, he gave me love and encouragement. Just like a good husband, brother, father, friend and King.
He often says, "Ginger," yes, he calls me Ginger!
"Ginger, I know the the thoughts I think toward you. Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
Hummm, even though, I cheat on you with my time, money, thoughts, even my heart, you look past all that and see my..... potiential? Why don't I see it the way you see it?
"You didn't ask," he'll say. "Well, I'm asking now. Show me how you want me to be.
"Well, we have to start with the condition of your heart."
"Why Lord," not that I'm questioning you, but I just want understanding."
"Because," he says patiently, "The heart is deceitful above all things. You can't serve me on emotions, because they are up and down, high and low. Sometimes, they are even stoic. I want a commitment, not an engagment."
"Oh, I get it, we're married, not dating, this is not casual. You don't want a Hollywood relationship, you desire a marriage and you accept me good, bad and between.
"Yes, but I desire more for you than you can even imagine, but you have to want it too."
"I do. I want you to work on my heart. How do I go about doing that?"
"Just ask"
"Ask what question?"
"To create in you a clan heart."
"Oh, yes of course. A clean heart, which means you're going to take all the things that are hidden and clean them out of me and replace that empty place with your spirit."
"Yes, and more, much more. More than you can ever hope to think or imagine."
"Okay, I'm ready, clean me up Christ. I trust you with my inner structure. You built me, now show me the manual of how I'm suppose to work. Amen.
