Life Empowerment Facilitator
Psalm 40:8 states: “I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.” Similarly, our speaker for this momentous occasion is “willing and obedient” to the call of God on her life. A native of Monticello, Jefferson County, Florida, she is a direct product of a very nurturing environment, and was reared in an extended family, i.e., by her mother, Ms. Willie Lee Lamar-Bivens, and her mother’s mother, the late Mrs. Ola (nee Green) Lamar.
This frequent lecturer has presented professional papers to her local, state and national associations as well as to other educational agencies throughout her sterling 25 plus year career in higher education at Florida A&M University (FAMU), Tallahassee. Presently, she is the Faculty Administrator with the FAMU Division of Research, Office of the Vice President.
Believing that to whom much is given, much is required and expected even (Luke 12:48), she is a supporter of L.E.A.D. (Leaders by Empowerment—Activists by Development), a non-profit organization that sponsors L.E.A.D. Under the Sun, a 3 week summer leadership camp, for youth who are in the 8th grade to freshmen in college (ages 13-29) and she serves as an adjudicator with the Tallahassee Branch, NAACP’s ACT-SO Competition.
Her communication prowess allowed her to be part of a delegation to Stellenbosch, South Africa with the U.S. Agency for International Development and FAMU; while in South Africa, she was able to minister to a congregation at the Universal Church of God in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Lamar was a featured speaker during this Women’s History Month at New Life United Methodist Church, Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church (both in Tallahassee), and New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church (Monticello); she has provided spoken words at the “One Voice, One People” Conference at the Graceville (FL) Civic Center; 2nd Annual Sickle Cell-a-bration at Metropolitan Cathedral of Truth in Havana, FL; she presided at the Capital City Women’s Club’s 2nd Annual Golden Recognition Luncheon at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center; she was the keynote speaker at the Annual Women’s Day Observances at Grant Tabernacle AME Church in Chipley, FL and the St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Blountstown, FL. Jerusalem M. B. Church in Chipley, FL received her keynote address “Looking Unto Jesus” during their Christian Education Day Program.
Her inspirational, spoken word/musical CD: “Things are Getting Better…with God” is a right-now praise to her God-given attributes of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ at any given moment of opportunity! She is undoubtedly and unapologetically an end-time teacher of the infallible Word of God!! The sophomore CD: “Precisely, It Is So!” is scheduled for release later this year, along with her first self-published book of the same title. Stay tuned…
Realizing where all her blessings come from, Dr. Lamar is a child of God, serving in an evangelical role as an assistant pastor with the Greater Works Miracles & Deliverance Center, Tallahassee, FL, where her pastors are: Bishop Keith and Prophetess Andrea Johnson.
