My Ode to Black Women

Ladies, I was out and about when I came across a brother acting in ways unbecoming of a gentlemen in the presence of a woman. I approached him and after engaging him in conversation I found to my chagrin that comments disparaging to her was equally humiliating to me, as he uttered that she was only good for one thing. This brings me to ask a question of you: Do you think men give you more or less respect due to what they see on the surface? While you lament that thought,Continue

Standing for the Boys -- A Transition in Progress

This is for the men that may be prone to hear this lamentation. Hear me out: As I look around my community and distances far and beyond, I'm dismayed and frustrated seeing young boys still harnessed and seemingly so passive in their appearances and no regard for self-preservation. Call it what you want but walking around with pants sagging below belts, hanging on corners unfazed by urban blight, and certainly no respect for discipline, I'm sure my colleagues are just as saddened as I am. Are There Creative Differences Between Male and Female Writers?

Hello Sisters, I need your help. I'm conducting a survey and have circuclated a query for a paper I'm writing. An author friend of mine during an intense discussion on the state of Black literature posed a question that I had to ponder for a minute. She stated adamantly that there was a distinct difference on how men and women write and create their story lines. I had to admit that I was taken aback. I tended to agree to a certain extent, but the more I thought abut it my mindset fluctuateContinue

The Female Pastorate: Divinity Or Division?

The question of the role of women in the church is one of the most significant issues facing the church today. The debate about the meaning of God’s intent for women and His words raises large questions for the churchContinue

Adam, Where Art Thou?

A disobedient soul, lack of initiative, coupled with shame did Adam in, and when our Lord came looking for him, Adam hid. Is it safe to say that Black men are still hiding, sans the fortitude needed to be accountable? It was once told to me that people of other persuasions fear the Black man most, and because of it, have systemically done more to keep him down and relegated to second class citizenry. There’s no doubt that Black men have had problems throughout the annals of time. We’ve known suc… Continue

Sad that so many men and women don't understand that if they loved and submitted with the power of the Holy Spirit, they would experience love and marriage as God intended--FANTASTIC!

If you don't mind, Alvin, I won't call you "Sistah!" You seem very interested in helping men with their relationships with women. Plenty of need there! Men seem more reluctant to admit need and seek help in that area.
