Each year, I ask God to give me a word for this year. This year, I'd like to share this tradition with you sistahs (and brothahs) too. I'm always inspired by the words the Lord gives to everyone. Looking forward to your responses.

Father God,
Give us one holy passion, one magnificent obsession--to know You. Let us see Your hand in the coming year and hear Your voice. Give us a word of direction, purpose and promise for the year to come.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

I started asking God for my word for the year in late 2006 when Mary mentioned it in an email. This is powerful. Those words have guided me throughout the year. They were not just simple words but words He knew I would need. At the end of the each year, I reflect on my word and see how it impacted my life.

2007 - Discipline - He helped me get order to my life and remain committed to duties - even went it hurt or I was too tired to go on.

2008 - Grace - for the things I could not change that I thought would have been different

He gave me 2 words this year.
2009 - Authentic Decisions

I'm looking forward to it.

Commitment

2009 I need to be more committed to being a better wife, mother, servant of God and writer. Its time to step out of the box and step out on faith.

All right now, Sis! You know that's powerful. Umm humm. I got my tea, by the way! Thank you! See you @ the tea party on 1.5.09.

I'm listening for 2009, but the word these past few months, and this past week, has been humble yourself. I never thought of every year...I'll get back to you! :)

My words are commitment and service. I don't have a problem with commitment, but God has placed it on my heart that I need a strong commitment to his service. He has given me some talents and I have buried them. This coming year I have committed to unearth those talents I buried in the ground while my master was away preparing a place for me. He cut away some things and some people that I dearly loved and wanted, but he showed me that he has given me treasures that he needs me to trust him to multiply by use. Pray for me, it's not easy but God knows it's worth it. To Commitment and Service!!! Praise God!

It didn’t take me long to come up with my word for the year. This is what has sustained me and I look forward to taking this to the next level.

Trust – This upcoming year I must take my trust to an even higher level.

Trust and not let what my ears hear deter me from God’s plan.

Trust and believe that all he has shown me will come to pass.

Trust and have confidence that his purpose for my life will come to pass beyond my wildest dreams.

Trust and have absolutely certainty that his will can surpass any and all obstacles.

Trust and know that he is in control.

God is just amazing...I hadn't read this post yet, but since January 1 everywhere I turn God has been putting OBEDIENCE in everything that I listen too, in every scripture that I read, even in the books I read just for fun. So I know that's my word for 2009 and it fits. There are a lot of things I like to argue with God about(I don't know why it's not like I will win :-) and I know this year He's telling me enough of that and just to listen and act!! So I ask for your prayers because I'm sure you all know obedience to do things you may not want to is not an easy thing :-)

Wow! These are some great words! Mine is OPEN. Time will reveal what that means, but I'm excited!

Continuously the word for me has been "teach." Presently, I teach a bible study class which I absolutely love. I'm not sure whose learning more, me or the group. Later this week I will be attending a meeting to assist in developing a program to help, love, lift-up and encourage single moms. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I welcome them.
Peace & Blessings...

Submission is my word. Submit my dreams, my goals, my life to the Lord!
